I posted in another group but I don't think they understand what I am
saying. Maybe you can assist me.
I am using a template that is in xlt and in the shaded column I need the
formula in L20 that is =if(D20<>"",D0*K20,"") I get an error stating that
the shaded area is pre formatted by excel. How can I get my formula into
the place where I need it? When I try to open the template to see the
formulas it wants a password and I have never had a password.
Question 2. How do you make your own template? I need one for a
convention that has discounts deducted as well as deposits and not taxes.

Sounds like you are using the INVOICE.xlt from Spreadsheet Solutions.

The formula you want should already be in L20 so why do you want to re-enter
it?

Those templates are password protected by the creators.

You can make your own template.

Open a new workbook, enter your formulas etc then File>Save As>File Type
Template(*.xlt)

Give it a name but do not add the extension (.xlt). Excel will do that for
you.

The formula that is entered can not be seen but it isnt the one I need in
that space. The formula I need is one that takes the number of people
buying tickets and multiplies it by the cost of the tickets and entersit in
the K column hence the formula.
=if(D20<>"",D0*K20,"") .
