My Aopen 5232 CDR-W tray will not open by pushing the button on the front or
by clicking eject in properties or any other way except by using a pin
through the front hole. After having done that, the tray opens and closes
normally for some time and then the problem returns a day or so later.

I also get no sound at all when I use hearphones plugged in the front of the
CDR-W to listen to music. But the CD turns properly and I can hear the same
CD fine through my speakers.

I have Nero 6 and InCD 4 installed, my OS is Win XP Pro.and the Firmware of
my CDR-W is updated to the latest version

Why does my tray motor work at times but not always ?

Why can't I hear music through my hearphones ?

Seems to me to be two unrelated problems. Could be caused by bad
configuration of some component, but everything worked fine before and I did
not change anything in the configuration. My CDR-W drive is only about one
year old. Could it already be finished.

Can anyone please give me some advice.

Sounds like the drive is failing. This sometimes is about all the life
you'll get out of the drive. A few years ago my first CD-RW drive was a
Plextor. Supposed to be one of the best. Like your it only lasted about 1
year. It may have just been one bad drive from the start. After that I
bought just a cheap one and have had real good luck. Sometimes it's just
the luck of the draw.

The front audio jack is supposed to only work when you have set the audio
play to not be digital. If it is set to digital, it comes out from the
audio card.
