This happened overnight I don't know how, I remember yesterday I was playing
Final Fantasy IX on the computer (yes, it's for the PSX but it never gave me
a problem with an emulator, this is definitely not the cause of the problem),
so I was using the CD-RW drive all the time. I switched off the computer to
go to sleep, and this morning I woke up switched on to play a bit more, but I
haven't got any optical drive, not my CD-RW or even my DVD-R. I went to
System Properties, and it shows that the drivers were loaded successfully but
the drives were not found. This suggests that both their plugs were pulled
out inside the computer box, which didn't happen because the computer when is
running the BIOS testings when I start it up, it finds both the drives. I
thought it could be a virus. I ran two free antivirus from the net, McAfee
FreeScan and Panda ActiveScan. The first found a few viruses, and cleaned
them, but the second stopped working while scanning the "critical file"
Explorer.exe. I know that this file is the very base for everything that
happens inside Windows, it's it's shell, let's say. I haven't got any clue on
what to do now, I could try and repair Windows' Explorer with the original
Windows' CD, but I don't have access to the drives at any time. I'm
completely lost.
If you can help, I would appreciate a lot, you don't even imagine...
Thank you very much for reading this bible...
