CD-ROM

D.The problem i am having is having that my cd-rom drive
wont read anything i can open it and close it but when i
put cd's in it does nothing.

I.I have a compaq presario with a 1.4ghz proccessor,
nvidia geforce 4 mx420 video card, 768mb of ram,one
80gigabyte maxtor harddrive with win xp on it and one
120gigabyte western digital special edition 8mb cache
harddrive.

J.The steps i have done to resolve this issue are
reinstall windows xp.

L.Why did i post like this? cause people decided to pick
on us disabled people and tell me i am not asking a
question properly soo i took it upon myself to try and do
it right otherwuise i wont get any help since i am
disabled and cant do everyhting perfect like the rest of

did you check to make sure that the cable is still connected ?
does BIOS "see" your cd ?

A Few Q's and a few A's.
Does the drive show up in My Computer?
Have you tried getting the Firmware updates from the drive
manufacturer?

After doing the above, try this:
Right click my computer and choose manage. In the left
pane click on device manager. In the right pane expand
CD/DVD devices by clicking the +. Right click on your CD
drive and choose uninstall. Reboot if necessary. Win
will reinstall your drive automatically. Hope this helps.
