CD-ROM Doesn't Recognize Cd's

My problem is that whenever I put a cd in, it won't read it and jsut says "Please Insert Cd" even though there is a cd already in there. Whats the deal?

I have the same problem so I reboot my computer and then the drive will
work. Agrreably, not the best solution but it works for me, Nick"m00ftak"
