cd player will not autorun cd when inserted

when I insert a cd it will not autorun, I am having problems installing a driver for a new piece of hardware and the cd will not autorun, other cd`s when i insert them they will not autorun. they let me load any programs when I go to my computer and select them there but I would like to set up to autorun when I insert a cd
