Cd Drive not working

My cd-rom drive wont play anything except this windows 95
game, that means there isnt anything wrong with the cd
drive. That means there is something wrong with my
Windows XP. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Sorry Lin, I should have been more clear, will it read the windows xp retail
cd from within windows xp. ie if you shove it in does the menu come up
automatically ?

Yes, so will Age of Mythology, and all these old cds.
Only the new Cds wont work.

Can you access the contents of the ones that "wont work" by going into MY
Compuer and right clicking the cd drive and selecting explore, what error do
you get, if any ?

This also might be a dumb question, but are you sure the new disks it wont
read are cds and not dvds?

No, theres nothing inside, but before, there was. I don't
think its not spiining the other cds properly. Its not a
dvd, im sure of that.
