Sorry, those links don't work - it looks like they've been copied and pasted it from another forum or something similar, you'll have to repost the full URLs. :)

The LGA775 CPU will not fit into any of the motherboards there because they are all socket 478 and not the socket it requires.

at the moment the way to go is not the LGA775 because it requires DDR2 memory which at the moment can only run at CAS4 making the S478 faster...

Find the S478 version of the 3.0 prescott and put it in a P4P800 E Deluxe (faster than the P4C800 I875 canterwood) or a newer canterwood with all the features you want.

i also noticed alot of the user's on this forum prefer amd - but there are some that would go for intel - i'm not sure why im gettin intel - but that last few computers i've had - was intel - but most recent was my laptop - which is amd - runs well and was much cheaper than intel laptops

Its weird that even though its a Springdale board, it actually gets BETTER performance than its "Canterwood counterparts"...

its just not meant to happen.

I have used that board in the past though, its very good. Get some rounded cables though, Asus still supply you with ribbons!

their Sata cables are nice though, better than abits. Probly no diff in performance, they just look nicer!

i've now decided to get a new harddrive aswell !

frist Q - is a silly 1 - but here goes - SATA = Serial ATA? -i'm sure it does, just checkin

this is the motherboard i'm getting !
http://www.eclipsecomputers.com/product.aspx?code=MBA-P4P800EDW

could i put the harddirve in it ?
http://www.eclipsecomputers.com/product.aspx?code=HDS-1600B5150

or should i get a diff make ?

any help here would be great as i know very little about the new harddrive types - to hard to keep up with all the other things !

1 other thing - it a dual memory motherboard - can i stick my old memory in now - then upgrade later ?

Yep.

Yep.

Probably, as long as it's DDR type. What memory do you have at the moment? If you have just the one stick, the motherboard manual will advise which slot to put it in.

Good luck :)

make sure you dont mix memory speeds either - if you put a stick of 2700 in and a stick of 3200 in BOTH would only run at the slowest.
