Can't logon anymore.....

hi

I get the user account splash screen (which doesn't require a password, just
have to click on my name).

I thought this was a bit of an unneccessary pain.

So (maybe stupidly) I used TweakXP to choose not to show user name at start
up.

Now I get the splash screen but no name to click on. So I can't get into
windows - the only options available are to "standby", "shutdown" or
"restart".

Is there a way I can resolve this situation ?

thanks

Hi

Have you tried accessing Safe Mode and reversing the TweakXP option you
enabled?

Dave,

Is your computer also shutting down differently? I, too, had that change on
me when I start up and shut down. I'd like it to go back the way it was. It
happened after I installed new software for a new printer yesterday.

Use ctrl alt & delete to access the old log on menu, you might have to press
it twice, then change your settings once you are logged in

Help! My mother has a similar problem, but its complicated by the fact that
to log in (using ctrl+alt+del) or enter safe mode, it is asking for a user
name and password. She enters her username, but had never created a password.
Hitting cancel doesn't work, neither does leaving it blank. She's tried
just about every password she can think of that she might have set it as.
Her hard drive crashed and had to be reinstalled about three weeks ago, is
there any sort of default password it might have gone to? Is there any way to
get around this short of reinstalling XP all over again??

Hi,

Yes. Try Administrator with a blank pwd. This is the default on
install and unless you mother changed it, it should let you in.

Cheers,

Lara
