Hi Anna, I put my old cd-rom slave back in. So now everything is the way it was before I tried to replace this slave cd-rom with the dvd-rom.. It boots fine, No problem, no error messages... never had a problem.. The problem starts when I take this slave-cd-rom out, the computer won't boot pass the first boot screen, it hangs and sets there doing nothing, I can't get into cmos or anything, nor will it boot to xp disk or any other disk. I litterally have to turn the computer off.. it did the same thing when I tried to put the new dvd-rom in. BUT when I put the old slave cd-rom back in, it will boot up to windows.. so I don't know why that cd-rom slave has to be there in order for my computer to boot up???? The master CD-r/w-rom is set to master and the other one is set to slave.. same for both hard drives so the settings are ok.. I have checked and reset and recheck the cables, they seem to be working just fine, if they weren't it wouldn't boot up even with the old cd-rom back in, right? This is what has me baffled.. what is it with this cd-rom slave that seems to have the control over my computer booting? It don't make sense..
