I'm running Win ME and have picked up an adware/spyware agent called "Cool
Web Search" (CWS)that hijacks my web browser (IE) and sends me to a web page
that is titled "about blank".
I can remove the spyware agent, but have learned that it's very likely that
my computer was infected because it does not currently contain the critical
updates for a well known security flaw within Windows (MSJAVA Bit Verifier
flaw). Apparently, this is now resolved by a Windows ME update.
After I remove the agent "CWS" using my spyware program, I re-connect to the
internet to download the Windows ME Security update--- but, as soon as I go
the windows update web page and scan for updates, my IE browswer gets
hijacked again and it goes back to the "about blank" web page.
How can I block the "about blank" web page and/or somehow get the Win ME
security update?
Please help!!!
