Can't find slave drive

After SP2 "ate" my drive (thanks Microsoft) I installed a new drive today,
formatted it and loaded all the appropriate updated Microsoft stuff. While I
can see my second drive in BIOS setup, I can't see it in XP. Any clues?

Thanks!

Would you explain how, exactly, a software upgrade, ate a hard drive?

All:

There is a known problem with XP and slave drives if you reinstall XP and
you have a slave drive not being recognized by XP Windows Explorer. BIOS
will see it, DOS will see it, but XP refuses to let you access the drive.
Western Digital does not have a solution at this time.
