can't change homepage

i can't change my home page. every time i try to change
my homepage it defaults to some page that appears to be an
imposter microsoft page telling me that spyware has been
installed on my computer. i have installed and run spybot
search and destroy as well as adware 6.0 nut they have not
fixed the problem. any suggestions?
