I thought I'd seen each and every possible problem on windows machines
over the past 8 years, but this one beats me ?!
It's faiily straghtforward:
1. It's intermittent
2. From my Win2k/Win98 machines I can see the WinXP computer in
Network Neighbourhood
3. Most of the time, when clicking, I get "\\xxx is not accessible -
The network path was not found." - sometimes (no pattern) it works
though...
4. But mapping a drive on xxx using the IP addres works fine...
5. So why bother fixing this issue - well because it's a pain for a
start but also because PocketPC networking doesn't seem to work with
IP addresses :-(

So:
1. DNSolution problems? Probably not?

Thanks for any thoughts!

Can be DNS even though I was told otherwise. I put the 98 and XP machines
onto the mshome.net domain and did a few other things and all is working. I
don't use 2000 but without XP in the equation it works fine. Because you
have 2000 you would also need to make sure the settings on 2000 are the
same.

Try running a PING test on the workstation, if that doesnt
work, go into both of the workstations and check to see it
they have a set or floating MAC Address.

Yes PING works fine both from my w2k laptop and my PocketPC. Floating
MAC address on the WinXP machine? I doubt it but I'll take a look at
the settings of the 802.11b adapter.
