Can't access my Hotmail account (see error message below). I tried a
System Restore to a date that I know hotmail could be accessed; didn't help.
I also did a total scan for viruses/worms on my PC with my completely
up-to-date virus program, and nothing was reported. Deleted all history
files, temp internet files, and all cookies to no avail. During the
connecting process, the taskbar reads, "connecting to 65.54.183.192." Then I
get the following white-screen error message; I do what that says, but it
doesn't help either:

"Page cannot be found. The page you are looking for might have been removed,
had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

Please try the following:

Open the by23fd.bay23.hotmail.msn.com home page, and then look for links to
the information you want. Click the Back button to try another link.
Problem:
Connection timed out"

Thanks for any help, ideas, or suggestions!

Hi Bob,

Errors accessing hotmail are being reported in multiple newsgroups.
These errors are usually regional while all other users have unrestricted
access, but knowing that never seems to help when you are one of the ones
affected.

Hang in there--access usually returns to normal within a few days.

I've had the same problem since Friday morning (Sept 17th). I've
tried 2 machines at work (one WinXP, one W2K; both using a proxy) and
2 PC's at home (both WinXP over DSL) and all of them get "Page cannot
be displayed" after clicking the "Sign in" button. I loaded the
latest IE patch on two of these machines but I don't think that's the
problem since the other 2 machines are failing too. There must be
something wrong with certain accounts. Pretty frustrating...

Just some follow-up observations to my previous post:

I tried logging into Hotmail with Netscape 7.1 but after clicking the
"Sign In" button, it hangs for about 30 seconds and comes back with an
error- "The operation timed out when attempting to contact
by23fd.bay23.hotmail.msn.com".

A co-worker can successfully log into his Hotmail account on my
machines so I think I can rule out anything hosed on my pc's. It
looks like certain accounts are broken.
