Canon FS4000US - Power light blinking fast, can´t get the scanner to work.

Hello.

I hope someone can help me.

I bought a second hand FS4000US and I´m trying to use it on a Mac runningOSX 10.9.2

I installed VueScan, I then plugged the scanner in and turned it on. The light starts blinking slowly, then it makes a noise (I guess it must be the motor testing itsels), but then the light just starts blinking very fast andnothing happens... It just keeps flashing.

Has anyone come across this? I´ve never owned a FS4000US before and so I can´t tell what´s normal and what isn´t.
