Cannot start MS PowerPoint Viewer.

My OS is Win XP Pro. I downloaded MS Power Point Viewer 2003 Self-extracting
installer to my desktop. When I attempt to start it I get the message:
Microsoft PowerPointViewer could not start. This version of powerpoint
viewer isonly supported on Microsoft Win98 2nd.Edition,Windows ME,Win
2000,Win XP and Win Server 2003. I have tried uninstalling trhen
reinstaslling this viewer however the result is always the same. Can any one
make a suggestion. TIA Scotty.

Perhaps you've installed the wrong viewer?
There's one:
(1) Office Animation Runtime allows you to view
PowerPoint 2002 (or later version) Web presentations that
contains animations in Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or
later, if you do not have PowerPoint installed.
and there's two:
(2) The PowerPoint 2003 Viewer lets you view full-
featured presentations created in PowerPoint 97 and later
versions
