Cannot Install Windows XP Service Pack 2

Why can't I install this update??? I have it downloaded,
but every time I try to install it, it gives me an error
message

Unable to read or write to the database.

What am I doing wrong?? Can someone help please!

Where did you get your Windows XP from? If it came with your computer, then
it is an OEM version, and you may need to contact the manufacture of the
computer. Microsoft does not support OEM versions of Windows XP.

I have created a batch file that might help out on this problem.

Go to
http://www.michna.com/kb/WxSP2.htm#Cannot_install_Service_Pack_2

Look for fixdb.bat under "Error 0x800710D9 Unable to read from
or write to the database". Download and run it.
