cannot find server/dns error

I upgraded my 98SE to Windows XP and now get the error msg
dns error and page cannot be displayed. I connect to my
ISP via modem and I get the message that I am connected
when dialing up. Neither the Juno browser or IE6 will
display a page. I able to startup in another hardrive with
98SE still loaded and it works fine, I have not found any
source of good help to resolve the problem. Anyone please

Only thing I notice that is potentially a problem is that
I have to use a generic modem instead of actual modem
installed

Probably you will need to reinstall your modem with the proper drivers
for XP. Get the drivers from the modem mftr.'s site and reinstall the
modem.
