Hello. My bride and I share a computer. I would rather not set her up as a
separate User, which appears to essentially partition my hard drive (sorry, I
am really new to XP). Can we both use Outlook within one User and
send/receive messages using different i.d.'s ?

p.s. I also have not figured out how to get Outlook to automatically check
for new messages and download them every so-many minutes. I thought I had
that set up, but it never actually does it. I have to click on Send/Receive
manually.

1) assuming 'xp' means outlook xp (the correct version name is outlook 2002
BTW), you can set up multiple accounts but one with the non-default account
will have to remember to select her account when sending messages. (Replies
should go out on the correct account automatically).

2) tools, send/receive setting - you may need to dig around on the
send/receive menu for the settings option - make sure it's set to check mail
every xx minutes.

It doesn't partition anything. It creates a new windows profile under
C:\Documents and Settings that is specific to that user.

Yes, with separate mail profiles. What version of Outlook?

I am using Outlook 2003.

Control Panel's Mail applet will allow you to create separate profiles and
allow Outlook to ask which profile to use when it starts.
