Bug or What-Repost

Earlier this week I posted a locking up problem (screen
freeze). I had done everything I could think of, remove
all periphials, different video card, etc. Could not get
norton updates or to their web site other than main page.
Finally after taking off everything I could, starting in
selective mode, and killing all uncessary processes, I
could run for awhile, but still could not update virus
definitions. Got onto virus scan web site, Trend, I
think and did online virus scan. Found dos_agobot.exe
and eliminated it. For some reason after that I could
get windows updates and latest virus defs, but then ,
would still lock up and getting into norton was blocked
again (including any of their pages other than main. Ran
full virus scan with latest defs and nothing. Ran spybot
S&D nad found cookies, junk, etc. and cleaned. still
having problem of lock up.
I believe their must still be a remnant of a bug causing
problem and keeping me from getting to any virus
protection web sites (other than trend).
Really need help. Can email by leaving bogus. out of
email address.

maybe the pages are blocked in your "hosts" file?
not sure how to describe the details, but it allows one to reassign
searched for web pages to something else.
try booting up in safe made and doing the update.

Safe mode- same problem. The strange part is, I wall
able to download the updates & latest virus defs, just
one time right after I ran the web based scan deleted the
dos_agobot.hm. After that I getting blocked again. Did
run full system scan with latest defs and Norton found
nothing! My luck it's a new virus we will al read about
tomorrow.
