Pretty incomplete information there.

- Did you do a fresh installation or an upgrade from a previous OS?
- If an upgrade from a previous OS, what OS was it?
- What "browser" are you using?
- Did you firewall(before ever connecting to the Internet) then update your
Windows XP installation?
- Have you looked at the task manager to see what, if anything, is using up
your resources?
- What Antivirus software are you running?
- When was the lasty update and full scan performed?
- Have you checked for spyware/adware/malware?
- How much memory does your system have?
- How much free system drive space do you have?
- How fast is your processor?
- How exactly do you connect to the Internet (DSL, Cable modem, Dial-up?)
- Have you upgraded your device drivers with the latest from the
manufacturer's web sites?
- Have you uninstalled any unnecessary/unused software from your system?
- Have you ran a disk defragmentation?
- Have you ran a disk check?
