Is there a way to manually turn on and off the internet connection on a
Broadband connection?
I mean it would be ideal if a shortcut could be created to toggle on and off
the connection.
I do not want to physically remove the cable, would prefer and electronic
solution if possible.
I have a real fast connection and Norton Firewall has been seeing an
increase in attacks these past few weeks.
I do not use instant messenging or anything like that so it is not crucial
to be "always on".

Thank You

Start/Settings/Network Connections, right-click/Properties.
Check the "show icon in notification area when connected" box.
Go to "Customise Notifications' in your Systray and set 'Local area
connection speed' to 'always show', then you can toggle it Enable/Disable.

I have both my wireless modem and cable modem on a separate
power strip.
When I want local mode only I power off the power strip.

The red x on the modem tells me the stuff is down.
