I helped a friend remove this from his computer a few days ago.

Now he is getting the same message about the file being missing.

Anyone know what might have caused it's return?

The message indicates that the spyware is gone. You can get rid of the
message by removing any references to bridge.dll from the registry. I think
it's under:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Symantec provides specific instructions for removing
adware files & registry entries at this website
http://sarc.com/avcenter/expanded_threats/adware/
I became infected with bridge.dll on one of my PCs,
deleted the file, but have not yet deleted any registry
entries. I, too, am getting the message upon boot up
about the bridge.dll file is missing.
