Bootable CD error: Cannot find NTLDR



BIOS is set for CD drive to boot as top priority over other drives. With the
WinXP Pro CD already loaded in the CDROM drive I see during POSTa message
indicating that a bootable CD has been detected. Then the black screen

Cannot find NTLDR

I've never seen that black screen error before with a bootable CD. The CD
has some tiny scratches, but it's not too bad. Is it time for a new CD
drive; time to upgrade to a CD-R/RW drive? Is the mainboard's CMOS chip
(BIOS) malfunctioning?
