I have not installed any new hardware or software recently. One day
last week and ever since then, when boot my pc I receive the welcome
screen but wind up with a blank desktop and no taskbar. I tried system
restore back to the day before the problem started, booting to the
last known config that worked, safe mode and safe mode with command
prompt. I still receive the blank screen.

I was able to access the task manager and I clicked on new task and
typed in exploree. The desktop appeared along with an error screen

When I reboot the same thing happens.

I tried repairing XP but I received the "blue screen of death" in the
middle of the process. I had backed up C drive and was able to restore
it but I still boot to a blank screen.

I have verified that my registry shell entry in winlogon is
Explorer.exe

Can someone help me with this?
