Black on Black

I switched to Windows Classic Desktop with a black background, clicked OK,
and now everything is black except for icons.

I can't get back using Safe Mode.

Any suggestions would be appreciated...

I had to start up in safe mode and did what you suggested, then rebooted.

In normal mode I have the same problem. Basically a black screen with icons.

If I right click, I can see some icons get blocked by the pop up window,
which is entirely black.

I fear I may be hooped.

The computer feels that I should be able to read the message boxes and pop
ups even though I have a black desktop, and black text in a black window, so
going to last known working nets me the same result.
