After an initial normal backup, made to file, I made an appended differential
backup. The size file of the differential backup was a little bigger of the
initial normal backup. Should'nt the differential backup file size just have
the size of the new or modified files? I backedup the system state data after
reinstalling the XP OS. After having installed SP2 I made the diffrential
backup.

Thank you.

What program did you use? Did you instruct it to make backups of just the
changed files?

SP2 replaced a lot of the old system files, thus marking them for back
up at the next incremental. Oh, and if you didn't remove the SP2
downloaded file, there's another 266mb that would be backed up as
well.

I'm sorry my reply was incomplete. I backedup the system state data. I
wouldn't know how to just backup the changed files.
