I use this facility every Sunday to backup my 2 hard drives but today it
refuses to work.

I am therefore unable to restore last week's backup to resolve the problem.

Can anyone offer me any suggestions as to how I can recover this invaluable
facility?

Thank you

The only message I am getting is :

Backup Status

Operation: Backup

Active backup destination: File

Media name: "Backup.bkf created 07/12/2003 at 15:07"

Error returned while creating the volume shadow copy:80042301

Aborting Backup.

----------------------

The operation did not successfully complete.

I can use the built in backup facility in my accounts software which backs
up to the same USB drive.

I am afraid that I am not at all familiar with the workings of computers so
I hope this is the information you require.

Thanks

I have now discovered that I can use the backup tool if I put an (x) in the
"Cancel Shadow Copying" box in the "Advanced" section of performing a
backup. This information would suggest to me that my problem lies within
this service.

Now I did examine my services and located 2 services connected to shadow
copying :-

1 MS Software Shadow Copy Provider Service
2 Volume Shadow Copy

Service 2 is running "automatic" but service 1 refuses to start and displays
Error Code 1067.

I am now completely lost but perhaps this makes sense to someone technically
aware.
