Hello I have a friend that did not back up his outlook
data from outlook in the export fasion. He made a back
up of the documents and setting folder and dragged it to
a cd. Is there any way to restore the outlook data to a
new install of outlook???? Thank you again in
advance.

I checked out the page. When following what it said. The
search said it was a *.pst file but when I tried to
emport it. The file will not show in the browser
window. It says it is not a pst file. It says it is
an office data files. File is 107 meg. It is the
original size as when outlook does a virgin install. In
the same location as before. what do you think??????

Yes, search for pst-files and make sure you include hidden files when
searching.

In fact copying the pst-file is a better backup than exporting the pst-file.

Are you sure the file isn't marked as "Read Only"?
Also; the file must be on the local harddisk and the user must have full
NTFS permissions on the file.

Instead of importing use File-> Open-> Outlook Data File...

If it still doesn't work runscanpst.exe against the file to check it for
errors.
