Avoiding Need to Click On User Name on Welcome Screen

I'm running XP Pro. When I start XP, the only User on
the Welcome screen is the Administrator. There is no
password.

Previously, XP would start up completely WITHOUT the need
to click on the Administrator icon. HOW do I get back to
that place?

You should not use the original administrator account for normal
computer use. It is a fall back account to use when your normal one
crashes. Create another user account and give it admin priviledges.
You can copy over the files that you need to the new account. Use that
one for normal day to day activities.

Hi Keith,

The System Admin account should be your reserve and not used for day to day
activities. Create another profile/account and give it Admin privileges.
To copy a profile:

Note: Once you create another Admin profile, the System Admin profile will
be removed from the Welcome Screen. If per chance, you still want it listed
there:

Or...

However, this will also contribute to the issue discussed below.

As per your issue, this is probably due to the .Net Framework update. If
so:

1. Go to Start/Run and type in: control userpasswords2 and press ok.

2. On the Users tab, left click your user name then clear the Users Must
Enter A User Name And Password To Use This Computer check box and then click
OK.

3. In the Automatically Log On dialog box that appears, type the user name
and password for the account you want to be logged on each time you start
your computer.

Tip:

Add Control UserPasswords2 to the Control Panel (Line 1)

Either way, good luck!
