I used to be able to type in what I was searching for in the address bar and
hit enter. Then, the MSN (or Yahoo, or Google, etc) search results page
would document the results.

Now for example, if I type in the words "search engine" and hit enter,
instead of my search results, the address bar has
"http:///? search engine" in there and "This page cannot be displayed".
So does anyone know what I need to do?

Thanks

First eliminate any scumware.
See

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each need to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.

Guys -

Thanks for the info. I have it saved in my favorites. I followed your
instructions and still have the same problem. I think there's a registry
setting or maybe a DLL that has gone AWOL or MIA.

Incidentally, this is on a Windows 2000 system and affects only one user's
profile in IE. Everyone else can logon and search normally.

Thanks
mm
