Hi,

My Compaq Evo 1005v (Athlon, 1700, 1.46Ghz), gives me a Warning, when
WinDVD 3.2 is launched (as soon as a DVD is in the drive). A warning (in
french) like '... an audio sub system is missing"

I have compared with another machine (DELL, Intel P4, 2GHz) and there
are the same audio elements, except "AIM 3.0 Codec" on Dell, absent on
Compaq. [But AIM (aol instant messaging) does not seem to have a link to
DVD ?]

On the Dell, no Warning from Intervideo WinDVD4 (version 4, another
difference between the two machines).

=> Is the Warning sent by WinDVD (3.2) only relative to Intel machines ?
(and should not be there with Athlon ones ?)
Or another Component (Athlon) should be installed instead ?? Which one ?
Where could I find it ?

=> What else "audio sub system" must it be ??

I've tried to figure out with "Compaq Diagnostics for Windows" (no
error), and tried to install "ADI drivers" (but Soundmax was already
installed).

=> Should the BIOS (version 0F06, from Phoenix, 24 oct 2002) be changed ?
=> Should the version (009) of GDR8081N firmware be changed ?

Thanks a lot,

Marc
