For some reason, Windows Vista installation fails with an ATI X1600
video card. Anyone know how to get around this?

I have one box running an ATIX1650 vc on Vista Ultimate. No problems.
Give us more details...like what exactly do you mean by "installation
fails"?

I have Vista x64 installed with a ATI Radeon 256 MB X1600, working just
fine. Can you try completing setup in safe mode?
