Thank you for your help. It fixed my problem.
Strange that when I first installed WinCp pro I did not have that default
save settings applied.

Open Registry Editor [regedit.exe] and go to this location:
NOTE: Backup the registry keys before modifying. Use the File > Export
option to backup the key.
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explor
er]
Set NoSaveSettings value to 0. Repeat the same for this key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explo
rer]
Restart Windows.

I recently had to reinstall windows Xp + SP1. The arrancement of icon
defaults to atuo arrange every time I reboot so i have to open the
properties and untick the autoarrange feaure befor my desktop arrangemnt can
be set to my preferred layout.

How can I make the deault with this proerty unchecked.
