I just built a computer with the amd xp3200 cpu and it is operating at 1100 ghz. Can anyone tell me what I can do to get it to operate at a better speed and why would it be at 1100? I am using asus A7N8X deluxe motherboard and 512 MB of pc3200 400mhz ddr. Bios ver 1006, copper core ultra TMD heatsink- approved for amd xp3200 and greater. Any suggestions?

amd xp3200 now operating at 2200

Coming up in the world- have the bios set for the 400mhz FSB and now it operates at 2200 rather than 1100. Still shouldn't it be operating at 2800-3000? any suggestions?

The AMD XP 3200+ is the model number of the chip not the clock speed, just because it says 3200 it doesn't mean it'll run at 3.2Ghz (unless you overclock it!). When you see an Intel chip these tend not to have model numbers and they show there speed. e.g, Intel Pentium 4 3.2Ghz (3200Mhz).

I have the same problem alonge had, but after trying to change fsb the cpu in bios said it was a 3200xp, as it should, but when entering windows about 20 secs into windows a blue screen would appear saying memory dump. The system would then restart. But if i keep the CPU to 1100mhz the computer is fine. Any suggestions why it is doing this? I have a 3200xp on a a7n8x deluxe mb and 1gb ram (512 x2).

wotever u do dont put your xp 3200 upto 3200ghz!!!! u gonna be able to have a barbeque inside your pc!!!!

i dont know what the actual speed of that cpu is but my xp3000 runs at around 2.2 gig and that is the correct speed it should be at. Also dont try and overclock these high end cpus unless you really know what you are doing and have some awesome cooling on the cpu and case (watercooling system recomended)

anyway hope this helps, wouldnt want you to blow your nice new chip.

oh and sunny, what is your fsb on?? if your using ddr2100 on an xp3200 then you have the wrong ram as it will only operate at fsb 266mhz, also ddr 2700 operates at 333mhz. i think (but not sure) that all xp3200's only work at fsb 400mhz for which u will need pc3200 ddr ram. so check what you have in your pc m8. the wrong ram can cause blue screens, as can poor cooling - which could be your problem as indicated by the fact that if you lower your clock speed of the cpu (producing less heat) you have no problems. are you using an amd approved cooler and got plenty of case ventilation??
hope i can be of help anyway
