Hello,
I hope someone can help please,when I go into control
panel,Admin Tools,I cannot open any of the programs
ie:services etc,it tells asks me which program do I want
to open them with,I don,t seem to have a any program to
do this,can anyone advice me,I am running xp home sp1,

Hello Ramesh,
Thank you for replying,I tried the reg fix you said but
it did not help,the problem I have looks like this,I
will do a small section as it is a long document and I do
not know how else to send it,<?xml version="1.0" ?>
- <MMC ConsoleFile ConsoleVersion="2.0"
ProgramMode="UserSDI">
<ConsoleFileID>{568A81E5-278F-434B-A302-12B6BBC5AB5F}
</ConsoleFileID> ,this go,s on for a couple of hundred
lines,I hope you can help as I have no idea what to do,

Bill,

Open Regedit.exe and see if the following key is correct:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.msc
default value in the right pane is MSCFile

And check:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\MSCFile\Shell\Open\Command
the (default) should read as "%SystemRoot%\system32\mmc.exe "%1" %*"

Workaround:
mmc C:\Windows\System32\Services.msc [opens Services applet]
Follow the same for all .msc files.

And, if this issue is seen as of recent, perform a System Restore rollback.
