If you use Internet Explorer, or any other browser based on I.E., ActiveX is
on. You can only tell how to use ActiveX by level of security.

I'm just wondering why several web (safe) sites are asking me to install
ActiveX to be able to see the web page properly.
My security settings are on default.

Be cautious about allowing Web sites to run ActiveX controls on your
computer. While these items can enhance Web browsing, they can also be a
security risk, and it’s best to avoid using them when you can. However,
some Web sites or tasks might require them and you will have to decide
whether to trust ActiveX controls that Internet Explorer blocks for your
safety.
