Activation Request fails, even after Activation

I activated an 'in-place' re-install of XP after
replacing my motherboard. I activated XP again. I get a
request to activate windows at each boot. I click on
the 'double keys' activate icon and get the message:
"the application or DLL C:\windows\systsem32
\oobe\msobshel.dll isnot a valid windows image.
Pleasecdheck this against your installation diskette."

I would like to finalize activation, get rid of the boot
nag reminder and get on with it...
(e-mail address removed) please with help.

Did you do a repair install of XPSP1 with XP Gold media? If so, then
try activation and then doing the SP1 update. If that doesn't work, you
may have to save your data, and do a clean install.

I had a similar problem replacing a motherboard VIA with a
newer version. The only way around it apparently , is to
reformat and reinstall new. Too many items change with new
motherboards. (Chipset, ports, processors, etc)
