I have the EXACT same problem. I have been looking around
for a while and have had no success, I REALLY needed to
get into that folder, Most of my A-Level Course work is
in it!!! Thanks in advance for ur help

As I said before - if the files are encrypted and the encryption certificate
is gone then you can forget it.

Its NOT encypted, Its JUST private, like most 'My
documents Folders'

If this helps here is my exact postioin... I d/led some
new ATI drivers for my graphics card in my laptop, OMEGA
ones, i updated it fine. My friend said ooh lets
overclock it...i was not sure but done it n e way..(ass).

As a result the Windows\system.ini file was corrupted and
hence XP home wouldn't start. I then installed XP pro,
cause thats the ONLY windows disk i have. It overwrites
the c:\windows directory but LEAVES everything else!
hence when i go to 'Docs and Settings' i have to users
called jonnie. Jonnie, (from XP home) and
JONNIESNB.Jonnie (XP pro). I can get into all other
folders in the computer, this is the only one that has
the ACCESS DENIED error!

Hope that helps explain it a bit better, thanks.

Johnnie that's more or less what happened to me...system problems then I upgraded hoping to fix everything (hell it worked for the most part) then I had duplicate file names..."Liam.Nether" and just "Liam". The Liam file was the one that I wanted in to, I had to use the article to claim ownership of the file after doing that I can view everything again...Hope this helps, I'm not a pro but it helped me out of the same situation.

This may just be the word encryption... I believe when the file is marked private it is "encrypted" at least as far as Windows is concerned. The key that Fritz mentioned...I discovered it when I tried to take ownership of the file...if you try and it doesn't work then what are you out of?
