When XP came out, it was the same. Dell will sell computers with either operating system pre-installed until February 2008. Dell is not desperate to sell computers. The huge number of PCs sold by HP and Dell makes the numbers difference between them insignificant. Sure, it would be nice to be the "leader", but being second means you're still selling huge numbers of computers around the world. So, buy an HP.
