815834 - USB device driver (error 28)

hello

I am getting the following message when I try to use my USB port to connect to my HP journada on a Windows 2000 professional. I have SP4 installed, and have had this working in past but it has been a good year and a lot of machine upgrades since I last plugged in my pda.

Any suggestions?? MS KB article http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=815834 states they have a hotfix, but also state I have to contact support to get it, which means $$$$

Suggestions??

Read the KB article again;
It specifically states that this may be a no charge issue, providing it
meets the criteria
