Hi all,
I build a wonderful XPe SDI image and it runs now with additional 2Gb
Ramdisk as a diskless Computer.
First I got an 0X0000007b screen of death, but that was because I
installed the Intel Chipsetdriver AFTER I run FBA. The minimum goal that
I wanted ist reached.
Tomorrow I write an Email to Remi Lefevre, how he boots an
SDI image with syslinux and we will see.

Dietmar,

Sounds all good. Although I don't understand what problems you were expecting form a ramdisk driver?! :-)

Anyway, what is the current size of your SDI file?
And what did you mean by "diskless computer"? Remembering your older posts, Usb flash disk SDI boot? Or CD-ROM boot?
Or Remote Network Boot?

We are always interested here in knowing the details on useful solutions.

Hi Konstantin,
SDI file is 456MB.
It contains everything, that I know from XPPro, as devicemanager, notepad
and so on.(Hihi I am learning to select Components...)
I dont understand the 1,7GByte after that, when I build XPPro for an even
result.

Is there a chance as a school or privat person to get XPe?
I know, that costs about 1000$, but that doesnt matter.
Who likes to lose his image after 120 days?

I think, that the boottime with an harddisk in 30 seconds(here USB2) is
the shortest, as long as you cant recieve gigabytenetwork with full
velocity.

I am a teacher for Mathematics, Physics and Informatik, at a highscool
here in germany.
Next year (is soon) I plan to do a course of XPe. Sean, do you hear me?
So You will not loose me...hihi.
I have pupils with very, very good ideas and you all will hear from us.

Dietmar,

I see. So you are still below the limit of 500Mb.

As you have probably seen in this NG mentioned a few times, XPe images rarely exceed 500Mb size. Even XPProEmulation is ~ 800Mb
uncompressed and close to 500Mb when compressed.

But please keep in mind that XPe images are not XP Pro like! Beside some MS applications (MS Office, etc.) there is more features
(e.g., WFP) that are not available on XPe.

Regarding the legal usage of XPe.. the main rule would be not to cross XP Pro borders :-)
