Try the following. Run "control".

If you are in Category View, hit Date, Time Language and Regional
Options.

Hit Regional and Language Options.

Hit the "Regional Options" sheet.

Next to your language/region (e.g. "English (Zimbawe)" ) hit the
button marked "Customize".

Hit the "Time" sheet

Under "Time format" Hit "HH:mm:ss" (UPPER CASE H for 24 hour clock)

Use only one H if you want 830 instead of 0830.

Now hit OK and OK.

To change the way your computer displays the time
Open Regional and Language Options in Control Panel.
On the Regional Options tab, under Standards and formats,
click Customize.
On the Time tab, specify any changes you want to make.
If you do not see the format you want in Time format,
follow these guidelines:

To Do this
Display time in a 24-hour format Type uppercase H or HH
for the hour
Display time in a 12-hour format Type lowercase h or hh
for the hour
Display leading zeros in single-digit hours Type two
characters, HH or hh
Suppress the display of leading zeros in single-digit
hours, minutes, or seconds Type a single uppercase H, or
lowercase letter, such as h, m, or s
Display a single letter to indicate AM or PM Type
lowercase t
Display two letters to indicate AM or PM Type lowercase tt
Display text Type single quotation marks (') around text

The settings seem to be correct with the HH etc, still displaying the 12hr format.

is there anywhere in the registry where you can over ride these setting.

I suggest that you change the setting to a different one - include
changing the separator - and Apply. Disable the clock in the taskbar
properties. Then start over and put back the settings you want.

Sometimes a setting like this affects more than one place and they can
get out of sync with each other - changing things like this and changing
back then resets things everywhere and often puts the matter right

Thanks Alex....that worked a treat.

Glad to hear it - and that it was nothing more complex. Those 'out of
sync' settings can be very confusing
