Just installed Mint 8 on my DX2200. Just because I can.
Looks nice but I have a problem waking the PC up from hibernation. PC seems to come to life but the monitor has no signal. I'm guessing it's some sort of driver issue.
Looking about on the web many people seem to be having the same...
I'm looking at building a home server with the ability to stream to my Xbox 360 etc...
I've come across Amahi which is based on Fedora 12.
Has anybody used or heard anything about it?
It sounds quite interesting.
I am coming around to your way of thinking. BUT I have a couple of concerns:
1. I want the machine to go to sleep when inactive and then wake only as and when accessed. I don't want it on 24/7 sapping electricity. The BIOS on the DX2200 doesn't seem to support wake on lan so yes I can get it...
Whoever gets in has a tough job. All party's, if elected are going to have to raise taxes. The cost of living is only ever going to go up really. It's not gonna suddenly plummet and were all going to have more money to spend.
The country is in debt. BIG debt and will take years and years if not...
I'm more of and Ale man. But then again I drink most things. Not that I'm a big drinker. Just depends on what I fancy.
I'm a typical binge drinker. Don't drink at home or go out (family man) very much. But when I do I give it a right good go. ;)
Tbh I don't watch that much television so I've not been subjected to there ramblings too much.
There just a bunch of squabbling private school kids with self indulgent attitudes.
Whoever gets in has a job on there hands getting the country back to a decent state.
But I will be voting otherwise...
I think I have decided on a self build as the dx2200 is not going to serve (pardon the pun) my needs with redundancy amount of storage.
So here a build I have put together so far:
Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-G31M-ES2L 34228 £36.41
Processor - Intel Pentium Dual Core E5400...
I agree with you Mucks. If it was my kid I would of done something before it got to this point.
They have moved the PC downstairs but she keeps closing doors and hiding things from them I think.
I don't think she's worried about paedophiles etc... more like what sort of conversations she's...
I have a friend who is concerned about there daughters web/chat activity at home.
Started to become quite secretive around the family PC. Deleting chat history and stuff.
I suggested perhaps some parental control software that perhaps logs keystrokes etc...
I know in MSN you can save...
Yeah there is. Not sure on the available power for another sata drive so would need a converter. But should be pretty cheap. If that's the case I could stick the OS drive in that as it's more tricky to get to and use the other 2 3.5" bays for the storage.
Ahhh wait a minute there is only 2 sata...
Thing is it isn't redundant with the one storage drive. Was hoping to have a separate drive for the OS and perhaps 2 mirrored drives for the storage.
Run the risk of loosing the data if/when there is a hardware failure.
Not sure what to do.
