Your logon information was incorrect.

Gregg Gianopulos

I open Outlook 2002 which is configured to connect to my
Exchange server. I am prompted to specify
username/password/domain. I do so and am authenticated by
the Exchange server immediately. I can operate fully
against the server.

Sometime after having been connected the Authentication
request pops up again requesting Reauthentication to the
Exchange server. When I respond by entering the same
username/password/domain as in the initial request I
receieve the following error in a Message Box:

"Your logon information was incorrect. Check your
username and domain, then type your password again. If
your account is new or if your administrator requested a
password change you need to click Change Password then
logon with your new password."

After hitting OK, I'm prompted for reauthentication
again. This reauthenticate / fail sequence continues
anywhere from 3-10 times in succession before finally I
am reauthenticated by the Exchange server and can once
again view my Exchange folder contents. Once Outlook
enters this state I can close it, reopen it, and I am
authenticated upon first attempt. This seems to indicate
this is a problem with Outlook and not the Exchange
server or it's availability.

This happens to me throughout the day, 20-30 times
everyday. It is likely worth noting that we are using
MSRPC via the Internet to connect to the Exchange server.

Has anyone had any similar problems w/ Outlook ->
Exchange connectivity or is anyone aware of know work
arounds for this?

I've seen the following MS KB article and have attempted
this fix to no avail. The problem sill persists.

Thanks!
