i've been getting messages relating to java. I cannot
connect to yahoo chat or pogo.com to interact with others
and to play games. I have investigated the respective
sites for help and support, where it was suggested that
disabling the firewall in xp pro and pc-cillian as perhaps
this could be at fault, but alas, the problem still
occurs, and the answers i get come down to one thing....
Java is either corrupt or has files missing.
A month ago i could access these particular websites
without any trouble.
It was suggested i download an update of the VM (java)
from sun?? as i did and the update still doesn't make any
difference.Everything is up to date on my machine (windows
XP Pro). I have also noticed that IE (internet explorer),
freezes at particular web pages especially those that are
game related. I have no problems with the games that were
accompanied with windows XP Pro, and, the australian yahoo
games site(pub rulz, Pool), is unaffected.
Since installing Xp pro 3 months ago, this is the first
problem i have had.
I have tried restoring my computer to an earlier time,
however, it hasn't made any difference what so ever.
I have noticed too when IE has crashed that an error
report is sent to microsoft. Just lately this contains
exception errors with regard to IE. When resetting the
computer (reboot), the scan disk check thingy doesn't work.
I check my computer regularly for viruses and run the
defrag program once per month.
Is there a diagnostic tool for such a related issue, if
not how can i run the check disk thingy (scan disk), as it
isn't mentioned as far as i know in the start\program
files?
If any one can help, it would be appreciated.
Thanks.

You could try restoring your PC to and earlier time prior
to when you had problems ... that is if the last restore
point wasn't set eons ago
