XPE startup error during FBA

V

Victor Berdin

Hi everyone,

Upon startup of my XPE image, it fails with a message saying:

=========================================
The instruction at "0x0350fea4" referenced memory at
"0x00000000c". The memory could not be "written".
Click on OK to terminate the program
=========================================

This happens during loading of the First Boot Agent (fba.exe).
I can't pin-point anything with the above error message. How
should I check/fix the above problem. Or what could be the
most common/probable cause for such failure?
With respect to device components, my XPE image is using
(only) the device component derived/imported using the utility
tap.exe. Any hints on how I should go about with this problem?

Best Regards,
Vic

Go to fba folder and read fba.log

Info you gave us could be anything.

Try to see name of troubled application.
If you can't find error then post FBA in this NG.

Hi Victor,

Are you building your run-time image for the appropriate partition? If you
are running FBA on D:\, you need to configure your run-time image to run on
D:\.

In Target Designer, expand the node for your .slx file (MyConfig.slx, for
example) and choose Settings.

The Windows XP Embedded Client (x86) information appears in the Details
pane.

Find Target Device Settings and choose Show All. Here, you can configure
your run-time image to be deployed on a particular partition/drive letter,
and the size of the partition you are deploying to.

Also, check out the Tips page. It has some good info that my help:

Hope this helps.

Hi Slobodan & Dan,

Both of your responses were right on the button! Thanks! Time to explore
further.
