XP won't connect to the net on wireless-B Network " That worked before"

have three computers hooked up to a cable modem ,and a
wireless-B Network. Two are runnig XP, and will not
connect to the internet. They are sending a phoney I.P
address to the router 169.254. The software is set to
obtain IP automatically. The one is runnig Millineum and
will connect to the internet. So the problem must be with
the software for XP. Note that both computers with the XP
was running OK before. My laptop was the first to
stopping, then a few hours later my desktop went out . I
scaned for a virus, and did not find anything. I did
Update my software the day before.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks Rick

Sounds like you have a DHCP problem. I assume that the DHCP
server is in a combo router/WirelessAccessPoint box, so check
that its DHCP server is enabled, and check that each PC can
ping the router/WAP. Disable ICF on the XP PCs permanently.
While chasing network problems like this, you should turn off
all firewall and AntiVirus apps; to completely turn off some
AV apps, you may need to remove (uninstall) them.
