XP Pro 2 modems for faster downloads?

I'm have only 56k dial-up available. Can 2 identicle
modems be installed to improve connection speed on a Win
XP Pro machine? I remember doing that with an win2k
machine years ago. Thanks for your help!

Your ISP has to support that methodology! Believe it's called ISDN? Others
will jump in here if I'm wrong.

It is called "modem bonding" ISDN is Integrated Service
Digital Network.

The ISP must support modem bonding, and you'll need two
modem that support it, not a WinModem. You will also need
two phone lines.
You will do better with a satellite system which will give
better download speeds. Latency is high with all connection
except DSL and cable, if you are primarily interested in
gaming, you'll have to move closer to a big city.

No, with ISDN you have to subscribe to the IPS AND the
local phone company. Phone co does not offer ISDN
service. On an win2k machine you can have 2 modems and
increase connection speed. Yes you do need to have your
ISP set up to support it. My local ISP supports it. I
just can't find out if XP supports it. Help!

No gaming. Online trading. CO is 2 miles away but
Verizon has no plans to upgrade to support DSL.
Satellite hardware is about $800 and $60 a month. I
don't know too many people that have it to know if it is
any good. 2 modems are about $50 each and ISP is $189
more a year. Thought it would be OK until DSL is ever
available.

I'd check with other phone companies to see if they offer
DSL in your area, Verizon isn't only company.

Check http://www.dslreports.com/ for info.

Also many non-Telco ISP's also lease lines from phone companies and offer
DSL (such as Earthlink... not a recommendation, just an example).
